Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho provides potential timeframe for Giovani Lo Celso return

Tottenham vs Wolfsberg

Tottenham are back in Europa League action on Wednesday.

Given their dismal league form of late, winning the Europa League is now probably the Lilywhite’s best chance of securing a Champions League spot in 2021/22.

And at present, Spurs are well on course to secure their spot in the last 16.

The north Londoners beat Austrian outfit Wolfsberg 4-1 in their first league between the pair.

Despite this, when speaking ahead of the reverse fixture, Jose Mourinho suggested they would have a similar line-up to the one that dominated last time out.

“Our starting line-up will be very similar to the one that started the game in Hungary. We want to go strong.”

Giovani Lo Celso update

The Portuguese would also provide an update on Giovani Lo Celso on Tuesday.

The Argentine has been out of action for some time now, missing Spurs’ last 10 Premier League outings.

When speaking ahead of Wolfsberg, though, Mourinho confirmed that the midfielder is back training with the team.

In terms of when we could see Lo Celso back playing, Mourinho stated it will likely be a ‘couple of weeks’:

“Gio is not coming back [to the pitch], but coming back to training with the team, which is a big step and a very important one

“Even today he was training for the first time, of course, with lots of protection in relation to what he could or could not do.

“But that beautiful relationship between Gio and the ball is magnificent, so it’s good news. It’s maybe a couple of weeks to play, but let’s say if everything goes well, we are on the countdown.”
